The material breaks down into 5 "eras".
1] 1984 to early 1986... very lo-fi. I recorded all my material then using a pair of domestic cassette decks.
2] Mid 1986 to 1988... during which time I used a Sinclair Spectrum (!) for sequencing and recorded my material using a Fostex X-15. The sound quality began to improve.
3] 1989 to 2004... I got hold of an Atari ST for sequencing as well as getting better gear, etc... resulting in mixdowns I felt more comfortable with and eventually moved on to fully digital PC-based composition & recording.
4] 2004 to 2006... The gap - severe burnout. Didn't do much beyond staring at a wall. Lost 20 years' of master recordings.
5] 2006 to present day... I stumbled into performing live in Second Life and started writing new material geared towards live performance.
At first the performances were limited only to Second Life but now they are live streamed to
YouTube,
Facebook,
Twitter and
Twitch
althought this may change at any time in the future.
The material on "Tales of Distant Worlds", "Occam's Razor", "Inner Mind Travel Agency", as well as parts of "Lo-Fi Funnies" have all been performed live.
I took my computer'n'synths out & played along with the sequence/"backing-track". The material from those albums has now been laid to rest but it laid the groundwork for what I'm doing now.
As of 2021, I am ready to perform the material used on our regular webcast / live stream performances which is most of the material from 2004 onwards.
If there's enough interest *and* if I can find someone to help me out with the 'roadying' side of things, I'll be at it again... so watch this space!
